WLToys does it again! – just as V911, this WLToys V977 brings same superior value to the Fixed Pitch (FP) segment! All of its new features deserve a closer look. Well , first of all, I have to say that the controller is very responsive and easy to operate. Read the manual to be familiar with every button, it helps a lot to use all resources. The display shows clearly every information you need to know. Also, it has an amazing switch. You turn on or off the gyro assistance. If you are learning the controls and the flight mechanics, keep it on (the red light remain on at the controller). When you feel totally confortable flying it, you can try the non assistance flight mode (the red light at the controller blinks).

More importantly, I love being able to switch between 3D and 6D with the touch of a button on TX. On 6 axis mode with low rates, it is very docile and very stable. On 3 Axis modes, it goes from a kitten to a tiger. And 3D flip is just a piece of cake!! The V977’s blade speeds are ferocious, so it can do damage – but it can also handle with some wind and that’s very, very helpful to me! Great flying in 4 channel mode and you can be pretty aggressive with it. In strong wind, you can spend more energy trying just to control it. But when you look at the size, it really did a great job. You can crash this thing multiple times (preferably in the grass) and keep flying.

The 3.7V 450Mah battery is very good. It lasts about 7 minutes of intense flight. Again, because of that blade speed, this is probably not a good choice for beginners even on 6 axis setting, but very stable if you take your time in learning to fly it. This thing is great for learning especially if you eventually want to upgrade to an expensive hobby grade.

Unless you are a pretty good pilot, I would not recommend flying this indoors. As I’ve mentioned above, it is very fast, so wrong and/or over controlled stick movement will most likely result in a crash in a small flying space. Also, altitude gain or loss is very sensitive which could also be a problem for less experienced pilots flying indoors.

All in all the WLToys V977 is a good value and flies pretty good. I recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade from 4CH and that cannot afford A Blade or Trex of any brand. Enjoy challenging! Happy flying!!
